The Avocado Fruit Myth – Fattening or Not by Bongani

Avocados today are known for many remedial properties. It is not disputed that they have long been known for having tons of nutrients and tons of vitamins that are very essential for everyday living. That is in terms of building the system through essential oils and fats that make for good brain function, healthy immune system and heart protection from the bad cholesterols while not affecting the good cholesterol. The heart research was done by the UCLA higher education school in the USA California. S mentioned above avocados have a very high fat content and this has always allowed consumers of the fruit to come to the conclusion that is fattening and some have even said it increases the build-up of acne. Is this a myth or truth?

Let’s first examine the truth in which the fruit is consumed by the majority of people. How do many people eat the fruit? Avocados are so versatile in their nature that today there are 100x recipes that are avocado fruit based. People use sweeteners, sugars, salts, tangy stuff and other fatty based substances together with avocado. It is not to say that this are the reason why people gain weight, but it is important to note that natures goodness is delicate; be it fruits, vegetables, herbs or nutrient oriented plants. So when this natural substance comes into contact with processed refined sugars, salt etc, they – in the majority of cases – can possibly lose some of their nutritional value. Yes, when these natural life giving foods change their state, they do not keep all of their goodness in-tact. A simple example of this is when we over cook vegetables with water. Most of the soluble and valuable content of the fruit is left in the water through the “heat drainage” sort of mechanism.

So we need to be careful that not too much alteration is made to these foods. In fact, some studies show that if avocados are consumed before bed they helps you lose weight, but it must be pure fruit, no sweetener and no more than 3 tablespoons. In this way the body utilizes the raw material of the fruit that has not been compromised. Same thing goes with fruits, plants and herbs.

In coclusion … “Another study published in the journal Osteoarthritis and Cartilage, proves that the avocado has anti-inflammatory substances that protect against wear of the cartilage (tissue that protects our joints) so if you practice physical activity, the avocado is essential to combat injuries. Besides everything already mentioned, the avocado is rich in vitamins A and E help fight acne, wrinkles and even cellulite. If consumed before bed helps you lose weight, but it must be pure fruit, no sweetener and no more than 3 tablespoons.”
